Yesterday I got up an hour early, put my bike duds back on, and pedaled to work. At this point, it isn’t something I’d be able to do every day, because it takes between an hour and a half, and two hours to commute. I did appreciate being connected to the surroundings instead of barreling down the road sealed off from the outside world.
In addition to enjoying the surroundings, eventually winding up at my place of employment, and a great work-out, I was in a great mood for the rest of the day. Bicycling tends to put you into a semi-meditative state, as I’ve said before. I’ll post some research on it some day soon, it isn’t just something I’m making up.
I’m setting myself up little by little for next year’s 100 day bicycle ride with the family. Check back often, as the Parva Project will be posting blogs, pictures and videos of each stage of our preparations, including the entire 100 day ride. Check it out here.
