The recent viral Twitter video, “If I wanted America to Fail” does not speak for me, or for all conservatives. I can say that unequivocally because I know and have discussed these topics with friends. Why would a conservative not be for conservation? When I get a few minutes free, I will go into more depth, and FISK the story to the best of my ability as it applies to human scale and pace.
That said, the video was designed to inflame emotions, not promote discussion. Its goal is to divide and put blinders on people so they don’t even consider the broader issues at play. I’m not glad that Twitter took the poster’s account down, and I’m glad it is back up again. Not because I agree with them, but because we certainly need to have this conversation. By countering the video point by point, perhaps we can make them sorry they ever created it.
